Kid's Ink

"Learning is life. Just as food feeds the body, information feeds the mind. The more you know, the easier it is to follow your dreams."

Since 1994 J. Hope Babowice has been answering kids' questions about everything under the sun (and the sun, too!). They ask her about history, astronomy, dinosaurs, geography, sports, animals, science, current events, medicine, money, math, movies (you get the picture). Babowice unearths the facts by consulting NASA scientists, astronomers, professors, paleontologists, marine biologists, and other experts, and then presents the information in a format kids can understand.

Want an answer to what's on YOUR mind? Send your questions to lake@dailyherald.com. Along with your question, you must include your:

  • first name
  • age and grade in school
  • name of your school
  • a phone number where your parent(s) can be reached.
Babowice selects one question to answer each week. If your question is selected, she will contact your parent(s) for permission to publish your first name and a photo in the Lake County print edition of the Daily Herald.

Online readers can click the topic link below to see questions and answers. Photos of students will not appear. Grade, school and town which generated the question are shown on this page only.
